lets tell a lil about ourselves... me?

well i live in the houston area of texas.

im 17 and raised in the truth, my dad is a ms in the congregation, and i run the literature room.

(is it forbidden to have friends that arent JWs). and a lot of girls have become attracted to me from school, ive had a lot ask me out on dates, sadly i had to turn them away

so it is still an UNWRITTEN RULE, but all jw parents will never admit to it.

I read your post, and wow you brought back memories, i was in the same boat, kept turning girls away til i was 21, finally i decided, either i smarten up or i am going to be alone the rest of my life, or stuck in some boring JW lifestyle, i finally got enough nerve to tell my parents and support myself and get out of the cult, and met a wonderful girl.

im 37 now, 15-20 years later, things haven't changed much in JW land have they, every generation tells the same story. Talk about a repeat.

Elder tells me that Governing Body moved to Walkill to escape terrorism

i was talking to an elder the other day, and he told me that the governing body had all moved to walkill to because jehovah wouldn't let them be destroyed.. but, i thought, weren't some of the gb in walkill anyway?

and if this is the case, why would they build that massive residential complex in the dumbo area?

are bethelites expendable if a terrorist attack did happen?.

Based on their history and recent patterns, whatever they did or are doing has to be financially motivated and nothing else.

i'll go a little further, he/she problay died centuries ago, and no one knew ??? anything is possible.

Maybe God CAN'T do anything about our suffering.

that is an interesting point/theory, never thought of that before !!!!!!!!!

So, What Do They Dump Next?

well, they dumped food service at assemblies, us subscriptions to the watchtower, reduced hard bound book.

distribution and downsized about a thousand bethelites ( over time).

supposedly, dumping subscriptions brought.

just to follow upthe food thing .........

I remember going to assemblies as a little kid (1970's, 1980's), and lunch was the best time, got to associate, and the food actually was REAL GOOD !!!!!!!!, remember having to buy tickets, before you could get your food.

The quality was quite good ,all things considering, they had pizza, the burgers were good quality, french fries were fresh cut potatoes, had very good ice cream, lots of fresh pastries, actually quite a good variety, most people i knew volunteered, so they didnt have to sit through the whole assembly.

But i remember going in the 1980's , you could see the quality drop big time, burgers were thinner and not very good, fries were frozen crap, pizza was taken off, ice cream gone, basically it was worse then McDonalds, thats why people started going out for lunch.

Lets face it, 4 of us would go out for lunch, maybe have a beer (what a mistake that was, guaranteed you'd be sleeping in the afternoon) and the bill would be $50-$60, we would of gladly spent that at the assembly, if the food was decent. Nope, it got cheaper and poorer quality.

I run a bar/restaurant, you serve crap, nobody buys, serve good quality food at a decent price, you're packed.

Maybe the Watchtower should do the same.

And i know better then anybody, you get certain companies to supply the food for you at assemblies and you're buying in bulk, you will get one hell of a deal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What were they thinking ????

NEW LIGHT in July 15th Watchtower??????

she won't tell me what it is.

Turns out liquor store in my neighborhood is owned by JW's

i was very surprised, here in alberta, canada, they privatized the liquour stores about 10-15 years ago, and the amount of stores tripled, practically one on every corner now, .

well, it turns out, that one store in my neighborhood isowned and operated by this family that are jehovah's witnesses, belong to a chinese congregation, .

i would think this would not be allowed, or show poor judgement, they say its wrong to have a store and sell cigarettes, but maybe alcohol is ok, .

I'm so @#$%ing mad!!!

last week, i took my vehicle to speedy because the brakes got squishy.

i had to leave it with them for the entire week while they fixed my problem.

they charged me $650, and i picked it up yesterday.

Way toooooooooo much, rear brakes cost about $200 with labour and $400 for the front including labour, MAX. , mind you car is an import, so possible.

try Petro-Canada, i've always had good luck with them.
